Being 24: Bigger Than Bieber

When last we met, I decided that acting like a child with ADD was a good option to bust myself out of retail, however sadly there is one thing I didn’t think about.

Getting in touch with editors personally is hard…very hard.

Yes, we are still on the Helen McCabe bandwagon.

Whilst I have created a Twitter dialogue with the country’s most important editor, it seems that getting her on the phone is a far more difficult task. Every time I call her office she is in an interview, in a meeting or at a lunch with the CEO.

While my pessimistic friends would argue that this is most likely due to her not wanting to talk to me, I am chalking it up to my underestimation of how busy you would be editing the biggest magazine in the nation.

I have decided it best to ease up on the phone stalking of Ms. McCabe so that I avoid getting a restraining order…and to allow some space for the impending deadlines of their newest issue, and have therefore decided to focus my attention on starting my career in the way of the most popular teen of our time.

Bieber.

While I would enjoy donning a hoodie, growing a fringe and singing horrid songs on YouTube to build a multi-million dollar career I am not going to debase myself…that much. I am simply using the ideas that Bieber’s mum employed to get her son the fame she, I mean he, so desperately wanted.

Shameless self-promotion and going viral on the Internet.

This woman is a genius. By simply putting videos of her son on YouTube and sending them out to everyone and anyone she was able to score her son a record deal.

This is what I now plan to do.

So while The Weekly is on my backburner at the moment, I have decided to test my Bieber theories out on another job I would thoroughly enjoy.

I won’t say what or where it is yet, I am still fashioning a plan of attack. I will say this; I desperately want this job, however it is a job that is not really available, so I have decided that I need to make Bieber’s mum proud and convince the higher powers that control this job that they need me.

Being 24 is all about delusions of grandeur…I AM going to be bigger than Bieber.

Mark my words.
