Spotted on the Selling Floor: Corey Parker

In honour of tonight’s second state of origin game I decided it best to take you back three weeks ago when Corey Parker came in shopping before the opening game of the series.

This caused quite a stir on the selling floor.

While most people were excited or stalking him in the hope of gaining a marriage proposal, I was simply perplexed.

It was roughly seven hours until kick off of the opening game of the state of origin in a state that is heavily patriotic in large part due to the floods at the start of the year…and you want to look at t-shirts.

I mean…are you kidding me?

My experience playing tennis and soccer (briefly) as a child was that playing a sport gave you a great excuse to be lazy, busy or to eat delicious pasta dishes for lunch (need that energy right). Why were you not training or warming up, conserving your energy watching Ellen or carbo loading; something productive, rather than meandering the shops?

I would like to be able to believe that it was a way of clearing his head and distracting himself before the game, but to me it came off as a cry for attention.

Oh…did I mention I am from New South Wales?
