In a follow up to Monday’s rant, I feel it best to deal with the major issue I had with customers that day. You see in Queensland, and most other Australian states, it was the Queen’s Birthday public holiday.
Being a public holiday it meant that all the people out shopping were enjoying a free, extra day off that all the employees working were not getting to enjoy.
My issue with customers that day is that they had the hide to be rude and aggressive with my fellow co-workers and me.
These people were enjoying the third day of a long weekend, doing nothing of consequence, not having to work and were able to enjoy the beautiful weather outside yet they chose to come shopping and be rude to the staff who did not have the choice to relax and enjoy their day.
If I had the day off and were able to enjoy a long weekend I would be freaking over the moon. I’d probably go out for breakfast, go for a walk, read the paper and have a bottle of wine in the afternoon and enjoy my day. I would be doing things that make me happy.
If shopping makes these angry customers so irritable, why do they persist on doing it on such a glorious day as a public holiday…and then take there rage out on me.
I say to you, angry public holiday shoppers stay the hell out of my store and do something productive with your day off. People like you make public holiday rates pointless as you are joy killing succubus / dementor hybrids.
