Bargain Bin Bonanza: I Am Sam

I love The Beatles.

I mean...

I LOVE The Beatles.

Listening to their music puts me in this euphoric, hypnotic state similar to when you blank out on the train and refocus when you arrive at the station. You know you were on the journey, but God knows you can’t remember any of it…and you are happy for that.

This week I walked into JB to discover the annual end of financial year 3 for $20 CD deal…I was in heaven; better still, the I Am Sam soundtrack was included. Needless to say, I was thrilled.

This soundtrack is essentially the ultimate cover album ever assembled.

Featuring the Finn brothers, Sarah McLachlan, Eddie Vedder, Rufus Wainwright, Nick Cave and a host of others that I love, the soundtrack incorporates the lyrical beauty of The Beatles with the insane talent of current artists.

It just makes me so happy.

That…and it reminds me of how good the movie is…hopefully it will be in the Bargain Bin sometime soon!

I give this album 5 stars and the entire strawberry fields.
