Shop Boy Explains…why you gotta get down on Friday

Like parfait before it, everybody loves Friday.

Whether it is of the TGI variety, the Ice Cube film series or one that is Good or on the 13th, Friday is a day that I strongly believe needs to be celebrated. While I believe this, one girl had a dream to spread the joy of Friday to all that could stand to listen…

Rebecca Black (or as I like to call her Becky…it feels more personal).

So in order to have my Friday live up to it’s full potential, I decided to set my alarm for seven. It was 7AM when I woke up this morning, it was fresh and I wanted to go downstairs. Unfortunately I don’t have a downstairs and I was left feeling hurt, confused and alone.

Why would Becky tell me to do something that wasn’t possible for me?

I think she wanted to teach me a lesson. Life is hard and that sometimes, we cannot do what we had planned but hey, relax, it’s Friday Ben, you gotta get down on Friday. Put your troubles behind you and get into the partyin’.

Yeah.

Upon this epiphany that Becky was trying to aid in a spiritual quest, I decided to head to the kitchen and instead of grabbing my bowl, having cereal, I would live outside the box, grow and eat some toast.

I started to have a bit of fun, fun, fun, fun when my coffee started to kick in before I realised, shit, the time is goin’. Tickin’ on and on, I’d have to start rushin’; I have to get down to the train station where I would be faced with another dilemma. Do I kick it on the Gold Coast, or sit on the Richlands? This is something I will soon have to make my mind up over; which one will I take?

It sure is Friday.

So many questions, so many decisions, so little time left in the working week. So in the words of dear, dear Becky I gotta relax and just look forward to the weekend, the weekend. I need to calm myself down and have fun, fun, think about fun.

I mean, yesterday was Thursday (Thursday), today it is Friday (Friday). We-we-we need to get excited...so, so excited. Tomorrow is Saturday and Sunday, comes afterwards…we need to celebrate the end of the working week.

It’s Friday, Friday, you gotta get down on Friday
