I like to think I’m quite the dancer. After all, rhythm is a dancer and I have a Hispanic booty (think J-Lo), and Hispanic people have rhythm, which means that I am an extremely talented dancer. Therefore I should become a back up dancer…following the logic?
The idea of pursuing a career in back up dancing, like most of my other ideas, originates from an American Dad episode where Steve makes a similar decision. It was at this point I learnt the back-up dancers code and knew that was right for me.
Be good, but don’t pull focus.
The only problem I can see with this as a potential career choice would be that, like it or not, I would probably pull focus. I mean, I’m kind of a big deal…and have a disproportionally large head for my body (think six year-old that is yet to grow into it’s cranium) and even more-so, disproportionally large hair. Seeing a human lollipop with a fro could prove distracting.
While I run the risk of pulling focus, I believe I should still have a crack. So many careers have grown out of a start in back-up dancing, so while it might be my instead of journalism career for now, it could blossom into something more journo-related.
Take for instance Heather Morris aka Brittany S. Pierce from Glee. She began her career as a back-up dancer for Beyonce…which lead to touring the country for Beyonce’s television appearance which lead to meeting the choreographer for Glee which got her the job as the coolest person on the planet.
See, back up dancing opens doors.
Want more proof? Two of the greatest ex-husbands in show business began their fame-whoring, I mean relationships, by being good but not pulling focus; Cris Judd and K-Fed.
Clearly it is a perfect career launch pad and definitely something I am going to have a crack at.
