RDOs Amigos: IKEA

When Belinda Carlisle sung about heaven being on earth, there is only one place that she could have possibly been talking about.

IKEA.

It is a land of joy, hope and wonder; and today I was lucky enough to make another visit. It is a place that I have ventured to at least four times a year since moving out of home and every visit, I can’t help but buy something new. Like coffee Thickshakes, IKEA is addictive.

Anyway, today’s journey was meant to be a brief visit to buy a frame to complete my gift for an impending niece or nephew. Sounds simple. I knew what I wanted, I even knew where it was in the store and avoided the showroom like the plague.

The frame did not leave IKEA alone in our bag.

I don’t know what it is; is it the bargain prices, the Swedish efficiency or the whole scale of the shopping experience that makes me forfeit all control?

Upon exiting IKEA today I was not only the proud owner of the frame for my Uncle related duties but of a new salt and pepper grinder (the same as at Campos…home to the Crackshake), some DVD boxes (why?) and a faux Lichtenstein.

My $50 shopping trip tripled in cost…I need to learn self-control.
