Spotted on the Selling Floor: Zoe Foster

Working in an inner-city department store we are lucky enough to be home to launches and special events.

Today the selling floor was abuzz with one such an event.

Let me take you back. Picture it, lunchtime, today. One of my co-workers approached me after coming back from the level below us and mentioned a hive of activity on the ground floor and, knowing I talk to a lot of people, he thought I would know what was going on.

Sadly, I didn’t.

Lacking motivation to work and wanting to find out what was causing the commotion we decided to door some shop floor investigations.

“It’s a book signing…definitely a book signing”, I exclaimed.

A book signing is an aspiring writer’s wet dream.

“I can’t see who it is. It is in cosmetics but…it probably Napoleon Perdis or something. I don’t think I want to go any further”.

The desire to avoid customers won out and I continued down the next escalator to join the crush of people. I’m glad we continued.

It was Zoe Foster.

Zoe Foster: editor-in-chief of Primped, author and beauty editor.

Needless to say, I was so freaking excited.

Sitting merely metres away from me was a woman who singlehandedly built up a media empire encompassing a blog, some books and most importantly to me, work on glossies.

She is my hero from the beauty-writing world.

Thanks to a line of roughly 100 women, the fact that I really should have been working and the fact I’m useless at verbalising how people inspire me I left without a word.

I think we had some meaningful eye contact though.
