I never thought it would happen, but I think I am actually
getting nostalgic for the last decade of which I have, on and off, worked in
retail.
It isn’t all because of retail, however.
Today was my final mid-week RDO.
It was a momentous day.
I also saw the final Harry Potter film today, which could
also have a large impact on why I feel that way.
Like retail, Harry Potter has been a major part of my life
for the past decade. I have eagerly awaited books, watched previews on YouTube
on bad dial-up Internet connections and spent hours engrossed in a genre of
which I despise.
Fantasy.
I hate fantasy as a genre and I hate retail, yet thanks to
both Harry Potter and the lovely people I’ve had the joys of working with (not
all of you, some of you drive me nuts…I can’t be too soppy), I have had a much
more fulfilled and exciting life.
It was therefore most fitting that on my final mid-week RDO
I also celebrated the final film in the Potter saga.
Needless to say, the film was amazing and tears flowed quite
freely.
Whilst the final Harry Potter film made me sad that it was
the end, the final few days of my retail career make me happy.
I am finally out and if I have to forfeit mid-week days off
to get such joy, that is fine. It’s collateral damage.
Now that was a bad movie.
